The neighborhood

The Equipetrol neighborhood is the most sought-after in the city, both for being a residential area and for commercial activities, where the most exclusive shops are found, as well as gastronomy establishments and hotel establishments. It was urbanized since the early 70s as Los Tajibos and Guapay neighborhoods, although Equipetrol survived, which was the name of a company dedicated to the oil industry.

The main avenue of the exclusive Santa Cruz neighborhood is the Libertador General José de San Martín, which on May 20, 1968, through ordinance 13/68, the Municipal Council named it; which was endorsed by ordinance 18/72, of September 23, 1972, but it was only from the second to the third ring.

Around this neighborhood, the Los Tajibos hotel was built in 1976, bearing the real name of the neighborhood, being for many years the first five-star hotel establishment in the capital of Santa Cruz. Then the Yotaú hotel was established, which stands out for its architecture full of terraces with plants and palm trees.

From the 70s until the first years of this century, the youth of Santa Cruz met in Av. San Martín and its surrounding streets, to consume alcoholic beverages and listen to strident music on their motorcycles, which was fought by the commune. In the last decade, large houses have given way to high-rise buildings for both homes and offices.

The Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University has built the Faculty of Habitat Sciences (Architecture). There are also buildings of other universities, such as Utepsa and Udabol. Today it is a fantastic example of the progress and potential of Santa Cruz, a walk through its streets is all you need to have a true Santa Cruz experience.
